Employment and public benefit

At Riyadh Development Company, we play the role of the main operator of public benefit markets in the field of fresh products and meat, in addition to operating the public transportation center between cities and the car auction activity.

Globally, the fresh produce sector is the fastest growing. Locally, the sector is expected to grow at an annual rate of 6.8% by 2026. This growth is supported by several government initiatives, led by the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture and the Ministry of Health. Furthermore, the increasing population globally and in the Kingdom will lead to increased consumer spending. In light of this, we at Arriyadh Development Company have identified global best practices to adopt an approach that will enable us to achieve maturity in our operations in this vital sector and leverage our expertise to seize opportunities across the sector's value chains. It is worth noting that the size of the fresh produce sector in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia exceeds SAR 60 billion annually, with 60% of these transactions passing through the company's central market for vegetables and fruits (Al-Azizia Wholesale Market for Vegetables and Fruits).

Regarding car auctions, the used vehicle sector is witnessing a 4% annual growth rate for the period 2021-2027 globally. This is driven by the growing middle-income population, the ease and reliability of digital transactions, and a shortage of vehicles due to challenges in global supply chains. Locally, the used vehicle market in the Kingdom is expected to witness an acceleration comparable to global growth, with an annual growth rate of 5% by 2027. This is driven by rising vehicle ownership rates, the increasing number of women owning and driving vehicles, the growing need for transportation, the increasing number of new workers in the Saudi market, and the desire of many to benefit from the non-implementation of the value-added tax increase on used car sales among individuals. In light of this, we at Arriyadh Development Company have examined global best practices to adopt an approach that will enable us to increase operational efficiency and maximize our leadership in this sector.

Al-Azizia Market for wholesale vegetables and fruits

We at Riyadh Development Company developed the market in 1998 on company-owned land spanning approximately 274,000 square meters in the Aziziyah district of Riyadh. It is one of the largest fresh produce wholesale markets in the Middle East and plays a pivotal role in the Kingdom's food security by supplying all markets with local and imported fresh produce. It also contributes to exports to neighboring markets.

We at Riyadh Development Company have adopted an approach that enables us to carry out our operations in the Azizia Market for wholesale vegetables and fruits in an integrated manner, through the following steps:

04

Strengthening relations with traders and market dealers, by holding periodic meetings to listen to their suggestions and implement the appropriate ones.

03

Stringent relationships and if you are dealing with market dealers, your holding company mailing list is not the same as your brokerage account.

02

Working on improving the urban landscape, in facilities and cooling projects.

01

Adopting the organizational structure to manage the market and attracting appropriate competencies.

08

Developing operational systems to keep pace with market operations requirements, and linking them with financial, regulatory and governmental systems.

07

Working to establish sustainability principles, raise quality standards, and stimulate local content in the fresh produce sector.

06

Building international partnerships to transfer knowledge and identify best practices in the fresh produce sector.

05

Study the current general plan of the market with the aim of increasing operational capacity.
